Scott Walker’s popularity has dropped rather dramatically for good reasons. Arrogance, the “Koch call”, a mean spirit, trouble dealing with the truth but the governor of Michigan might be worse! Rick Snyder has pushed a bill to reduce the maximum unemployment benefits from 26 weeks to only 20 weeks.
Snyder is the guy who proposed he would swoop in and replace local units of government in economically troubled areas, eliminate elected school boards, you name it and replace these public citizens with Snyder “managers! My Lord.
Meanwhile, NY Times had this nugget:”General Electric had a good year, making a profit of $14.2 billion but the lucky bums, no taxes are due!
In fact, G.E. claims a tax credit of $3.2 billion from Uncle Sam! (I guess the UC folks can help pay G.E.!)
So, Governor-nut-Walker might think about a bumper sticker that says “Snyder is worse!” He might fool ‘em in the UP because Michigan’s governor is mean, short-sighted, and nuts. Real unemployment is probably close to 20%. There are precious few family supporting jobs out there in part because of NAFTA, working class folks have no money to spend so Snyder says make it worse! Few jobs in part because of the lingering recession, in part because governor-nuts like Christie, Snyder, and Walker have only one answer–cut benefits! No new stimulus–cut, cut, cut.
Sander Levin said, “It turns the clock back 50 years.” At least!
Supremes: Walker’s union busting law is headed for the Supreme Court–so David Prosser will have a chance to persuade any WMC doubters that their campaign money is well spent! Prosser’s campaign “said Prosser would be a complement to Walker’s administration” as MJS reports this morning. Music to Jim Haney’s ears, “Prosser said he would not step aside.”
