I support Concealed Carry, and will get a permit when this becomes law… If required.
It looks like there is a real chance that Wisconsin could get what is being called Constitutional Carry, where anyone legally able to have a handgun can carry it, without a permit. I know some here may disagree, but I think Wisconsin would be better served if we did have a permitting process. It should be “shall issue” which means anyone that wants one and can legally posses a gun, shall be issued a permit after a training session. Not everyone was raised around guns the way I was, so I believe that it would be a responsible thing to get some basic training. Training should include both basic safety, but also information on the legalities and responsibilities of carrying that gun. I think it would be a bad idea for someone that has never handled a gun, to buy one and stick it in his pocket without understanding how that gun works.
Your thoughts? I’d be really interested in the thoughts of those in law enforcement.
