Yesterday it was widely reported that Doyle is set to join the corporate law firm, Foley and Lardner. Doing so will significantly mar a progressive legacy that Doyle has spent a lifetime carefully building.
Foley and Lardner is where big, fat multinational corporations (as well as the WMC) go for help sabotaging labor unions, environmentalists and a whole wide range of progressive efforts– they even have a lobbying arm!
Frankly, the dirty little secret among progressives is that most anti-progressive efforts are usually aided and abetted by our fellow progressives that decided to cash-in and join the other side. It’s the perfect set-up for the corporate special interests, because it allows them to put a progressive face on an unprogressive measure and Democrats are much less likely to attack one of their own, and, in fact, usually are hood-winked into joining the measure.
Ralf Boer, the CEO Sith Lord of Foley said as much when asked to comment about Doyle coming over to the Dark Side:
Ralf Boer, chairman and chief executive of Foley, said the addition of Doyle comes as health care and alternative energy become increasingly important issues for businesses and government. Doyle will be working with the law firm’s regulated industries department.
“What’s particularly interesting to us, and frankly, our clients, is that the governor has probably more – outside members of the Obama administration – intimate familiarity with the very significant regulatory issues facing the health care and energy industries than other public officials,” Boer said.
If Doyle wants to practice law, there are a wide range of progressive law firms in Wisconsin that would love to have him.
Please reconsider, Governor Doyle.
