A Milwaukee sex offender living in Oklahoma has been charged with kidnapping three teenage girls and threatening them with a large knife.

Dennis Kurtz, 32, who was convicted of third-degree sexual assault in Milwaukee County in 2007, was arrested earlier this week on charges of kidnapping, assault with a dangerous weapon, lewd molestation and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Kurtz, although he now lives in a mobile home in the Oklahoma town of Collinsville, a suburb of Tulsa, is still registered as a sex offender in this state due to his conviction. Kurtz will remain under Wisconsin supervision until 2028.

According to the Tulsa World newspaper, the alleged events that led to Kurtz’s arrest began on Sunday night, when he supplied the three girls, friends of his younger brother, with “beer and alcohol.” The girls stayed the night at Kurtz’s home. When he awoke, he accused them of stealing money from him and threatened to kill them with “a large knife” unless they gave it back.

Kurtz allegedly told them they couldn’t leave until they returned the money, but two of the girls escaped when he walked into another room. They called police from a nearby convenience store. Police went to the mobile home, reported finding the third girl there and arrested Kurtz.

Kurtz was booked into Tulsa County Jail under $155,500 bond.
