Somehow, we seem to have missed this vice presidential boom, repoirted by the Oshkosh Northwestern:

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson has only been in office four months, but political blogs and Web sites have already tabbed him as a dark horse with the potential to be a Republican vice presidential nominee in 2012.

Johnson, R-Oshkosh, says he’s more focused on his tasks representing Wisconsin: Helping citizens navigate federal bureaucracy, reining in spending and making the federal government operate more efficiently.

“Obviously, someone has given serious consideration to (me being a potential running mate), but I’m focusing on my role in the Senate,” Johnson said. “I wake up every morning wondering how I can most address spending and reduce the (federal) debt.”

Dark horse?

That’s the understatement of the century. Here in Wisconsin, most people have forgotten he’s their senator. He’s rarely surfaced since taking office in January, and when he does poke his head up, he doesn’t say anything.

He would add a bit of mystery and intrigue to the ticket, however — sort of like Chauncey Gardiner. He likes to watch.

UPDATE: We have found the culprit:  Roll Call included RoJo on a list of 14 members of Congress who could be in the veepstakes.   But it ain’t necessarily so.  Good grief!
