A stroll through a General Mitchell International Airport gift shop was the inspiration for a new website celebrating “crap” souvenirs.
The founder of CrapSouvenirs.com, which allows users to post photos of their kitschiest finds, recently told USA Today he was perusing the shop and was struck by an epiphany.

“It was almost like I’d stumbled into King Tut’s tomb,” Doug Lansky told the newspaper. “There was so much good stuff and it was just so funny.”
Perhaps the most inspiring artifact was a coffee mug with cow udders. It’s on the site, which allows users to rate the paraphernalia, along with an udder-enhanced shot glass.
Other items of note on the site include a “makin’ bacon” throw rug from Tennessee depicting two humping pigs, a “rest your ash” toilet-shaped ash tray from Ireland and a canister of “canned fog” from San Francisco.
Britain’s royal wedding has caused a flood of related souvenirs. Foremost among them is a box of condoms – “Crown Jewels: Condoms of Distinction” – commemorating the union.
“This three-condom pack with photo of the royal bride and groom will help turn any impending romantic moment into a debate about the nuances of acceptable merchandising,” says the website.
