We have all been following the bullying emails sent to businesses that have not opposed the governors Budget Repair Bill, from the head of the The Wisconsin Professional Police Association, James Palmer (who is not, and never has been a police officer). We at BadgerBlogger have heard from readers on the Milwaukee Police Department and other area agencies, telling us that the WPPA does not speak for them. We also found confirmation from retired MPD Homicide detective Steve Spingola. (This is a Must Read!)
Today I was tipped off by my mother that police in their area of Western Wisconsin are also not buying into Palmer’s tactics.
Kwik Trip faces possible boycott
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Wisconsin Professional Police Association (WPPA) and several other union representatives recently sent a letter to Kwik Trip’s CEO.They’re asking the company to publicly oppose Governor Walker’s elimination of almost all the collective bargaining rights of state workers.
But many local members aren’t supporting their unions’ position.
Many local members of the WPPA say they were left in the dark about the letter warning of a possible boycott.
“One of the local radio stations had aired that Kwik Trip had received the letter and we’ve just been working from there,” said James Kerr, president of the Holmen Professional Police Association.
Campbell, Holmen, and West Salem police along with La Crosse County Patrol Deputies have come out against the possible boycott.
Not everyone on these departments agrees with Scott Walker, but they do agree that the tactics of the WPPA are wrong. Our police officers are entrusted with a great responsibility, and they swear to do their job, upholding the laws of Wisconsin, no matter what their personal opinions might be.

UPDATE (From Roland): We here at BadgerBlogger have been pretty vocal against these boycotts. The way this was done by the WPPA’s James Palmer and others stinks of extortion, in my opinion. I’ve also previously raised the question of why Palmer and his particular police and fire co-conspirators who co-signed these threatening letters feel the need to do so. Their professions have been excluded by Governor Walker’s budget & labor reforms. So whose agenda are they serving? There is some excellent commentary over at the Spingola Files on this point.
But, beyond Palmer’s extortion and duplicitous agendas…the specific boycott of Kwik Trip IS JUST PLAIN MORONIC!! Following a tip-off from Mark Belling’s radio show, I learned that Kwik Trip employees actually gave a slightly higher amount of money to TOM BARRETT!! Their overall percentage tips in favor of Republican candidates, but it appears that they are pretty middle of the road.

So, the final question I have is this…from this point forward, do you think the people of Kwik Trip will continue to support the political party that threatens them?
